About this work
Developed alongside After Pressure, this study turns to the meeting of different surfaces: how gloss and matte, broad colour and broken edges can coexist in one image. This digital image gathers irregular planes around a narrow channel. Glossy deep teal, dry matte ochre and worn black edges carry different visual weights, while a small vermilion passage concentrates attention at a junction.
Tiny pearlescent fragments contrast with the broad surrounding surfaces. Selective highlights, rough edges and contact shadows suggest the shallow depth of a relief, allowing the eye to move between the overall form and a close view of its imagined materials.
An AI-generated still digital image depicting the meeting of glossy, matte and worn surfaces.
