A film, a note and two works.
01 / Tongmu
Days in the tea mountains
Tea makers check the leaves by hand before rolling. Around that decision are the stream, the stove and the work of the smokehouse. Filmed in Tongmu, Wuyishan.

02 / Tea
Sometimes, it is boring
I sometimes find life in the tea mountains boring.
That is also when my attention turns toward nature. In the footage, a hand squeezes a few leaves: elapsed time matters, but their condition still has to be felt.

03 / Hands
Along the seam
Two dark surfaces part. Small pieces of light follow the opening.
Turning the work brings some pale fragments into view and lets others recede. The opening remains; the balance of light changes.
An original digital sculpture, with geometry and materials made through code.

Thin pieces of mother-of-pearl catch the light within a lacquered surface. The sources below introduce shell inlay in Quangang and lacquer practice in Fuzhou.

04 / After
After Release
Approach. Touch. Let go.
Bring the three forms together, then release them. Compare what happens with and without a lasting trace.
A composed deformation brings a brief action and its later effects into view.

Back in the smokehouse
A hand squeezes a few leaves. They bend without breaking. The tea maker decides they are ready for rolling.
